Design Pine
What is Design Pine?
Design Pine is a high-quality natural timber that is long lasting, easy to use and has multiple applications. The secret behind Design Pine can be credited to four key areas:
- It is grown in sustainable, managed plantations which produce a high-grade timber.
- Includes a H3 compliant wood preservative that guarantees termite and rot resistance.
- Has all defects removed to ensure the timber remains straight while reducing the risk of resin bleed.
- Is coated in a genuine, superior quality ‘blue’ primer making it ready for painting – no undercoat needed.
Design Pine’s Genuine Blue Primer
The blue primer used for Design Pine is a genuine primer and offers a more durable undercoat than its competitors. The oil-based primer is applied by machine ensuring that it covers all sections of the timber evenly. There is no need to add further undercoats, simply choose your colour and add your final coat.
Termite Resistant Preservative
The organic preservative which is applied to Design Pine directly improves the timber’s durability while also giving it better resistance to rot. The preservative includes special waxes and resins which helps to stabilise the timber. Design Pine is rated H3, making it ideal for all above ground applications.
Sustainably Grown Design Pine
All Design Pine timber comes sourced from sustainable timber plantations. The timber grown is Radiata Pine which was introduced to Australia in the 1800s and was quickly recognised for its rapid growth. Since then, commercial plantations have been established and sustainably managed across Australia.
Manufacturing Design Pine
Much of the popularity of Design Pine can be attributed to the manufacturing process. While the timber is grown naturally, during manufacturing the visible defects are removed and the timber is finger jointed back together. Removing the defects creates a straighter, aesthetically pleasing board while also reducing the risk of resin bleed.
