Kokoda Plywood

High-performance structural plywood

Kokoda CD Plywood is one of Australia’s highest structural F rated plywoods. Available in both F14 and F17 grades made in accordance with AS/NZS 2269, it will outperform the lower grade softwood structural grades of F8 and F11. Kokoda Plywood’s hardwood construction provides a flatter, stiffer and stronger sheet making it the top choice for builders who need reliable performance.

Benefits of Kokoda Plywood

Strength and load-bearing capacity

Kokoda Plywood is rated F14 or F17 for structural strength, making it suitable for high-load applications. This strength comes from its full hardwood construction, which ensures a higher density and robustness compared to mixed-species plywood.

This structural grade construction enables Kokoda Plywood to handle significant loads and stresses, making it an excellent choice for critical structural components such as flooring, bracing and roofing.

Durability and resistance

Kokoda Plywood features a H2 glueline treatment, which offers protection against termites and other pests. This treatment makes Kokoda suitable for use Australia wide.

Stability and dimensional integrity

Constructed entirely from hardwood veneers, Kokoda Plywood provides outstanding stability. The use of 100% hardwood ensures that the plywood retains its shape and strength, even when exposed to harsh conditions.

This stability minimises the risk of warping or bending, a common issue with lower-grade softwood or combi core plywoods. As a result, builders can confidently use Kokoda Plywood for structural applications where maintaining form and function over time is critical.

Certified performance

Kokoda Plywood is manufactured to meet the AS/NZS 2269 standard for structural plywood, providing builders and tradespeople with the assurance that it has undergone stringent testing for performance and safety. This certification ensures Kokoda Plywood meets industry requirements for use in structural and load-bearing applications.

Application Areas

Kokoda Plywood is designed for external and structural applications, providing exceptional performance in environments where strength and durability are paramount. Below are the most common use cases for Kokoda Plywood:

Due to its high strength rating and thickness options, Kokoda T&G Plywood is ideal for mezzanine flooring systems in industrial and commercial buildings. The F14/F17 rating ensures that the plywood can handle heavy loads while maintaining structural integrity over time.

Kokoda’s stability and dimensional integrity make it suitable for bracing walls and roofs in residential and commercial projects. The plywood’s ability to resist warping or buckling under environmental stress ensures that structures remain stable and secure.

Kokoda Plywood, with its A-Bond glueline, is suitable for external applications. In addition, the H2 provides pest resistance when required. Builders can confidently use Kokoda Plywood for structural applications, knowing it will perform reliably in Australian conditions.

Visual grading and finishes

Kokoda Plywood is graded C/D. It can be worked with conventional tools, cut, drilled, routered, planed and sanded with ease and will take a good quality industrial paint finish.

Typical C face

The C face is the higher-quality side of the plywood, suitable for non-decorative applications where appearance is not overly important. It provides a relatively smooth surface.

Typical D back

The D back is the lesser-grade side of the plywood, typically used for structural applications where the surface will not be visible. While less smooth than the C face, the D back still provides the strength and durability required for structural work. These grading distinctions allow builders to choose which side of the plywood is exposed, depending on the visual requirements of the project.

Typical edge (19mm - 7 ply)

A 19mm, 7-ply structural plywood panel typically features alternating layers of wood veneers, each bonded with a durable adhesive. This cross-laminated construction enhances strength and stability, making it suitable for various structural applications. The panel's edges are usually square-cut, ensuring a precise fit during installation.
