Composite Cladding Perth WA

Timber Composite Cladding for Perth’s Climate

If you’re looking to turn a plain wall or ceiling into a feature, cladding is a perfect choice. To make the job even easier, you can choose composite cladding. Working with composite cladding is a dream for builders and the finished product looks great.

Cladding adds a feeling of warmth to any area. Modern architects have embraced the idea and are finding new and creative ways to bring cladding into the home. Outside, composite cladding can be used for the alfresco area, fences, pergolas and retaining walls.

Choosing to build with composite cladding benefits both the builder and the homeowner. It’s easy to work with because it’s strong and sturdy and for the owner, it’s long-lasting and low maintenance. The best of both worlds.

What is composite cladding?

Composite cladding has come a long way since it first became popular in the 1990s. The current style of composite cladding is manufactured from a combination of recycled plastics, reclaimed wood fibre, resins and polymers.

Composite cladding not only mimics the grains and colours of traditional timber, but its long list of features makes it a popular alternative to timber cladding

Frequently Asked Questions

Composite cladding is made from a combination of recycled timber fibres (60%) and recycled plastics (40%). Every composite cladding board manufactured keeps plastics out of landfill. The NewTechWood composite cladding supplied by Austim also features an engineered polymer shield that keeps the moisture absorption rate as low as 0.1%.

An experienced tradesperson will love installing composite cladding. The product comes in uniform lengths and is easy to cut or shape. Composite cladding can be attached to a variety of surfaces, including brick, and all screws can be hidden out of view creating a clean finish. In general, installation of composite cladding is quicker than timber cladding.

Composite cladding has changed a lot since it was first introduced. It’s fair to say the original composite boards were very plastic looking but today, you can barely tell the difference between a timber and composite board side-by-side. One of the major differences between the two is the level of maintenance required.

Timber decking will require cleaning, resealing and potentially sanding throughout its lifetime, while composite will only require a regular clean. Made from 95% recycled materials makes composite cladding an eco-friendly alternative to timber. Depending on the products you compare, composite decking may be more expensive up front, however, you don’t have the same ongoing maintenance costs as you would with natural timber cladding.

While timber is a natural product, it can have a limited lifespan if it’s not maintained regularly. Dry timber tends to split and splinter quite easily. Our composite products are much more forgiving. Even after lengthy exposure to the sun and rain, composite cladding won’t warp, split or crack. Composite boards also maintain their colour more effectively whereas some timber varieties can ‘silver off’ over time.
