The Fleurieu Regional Aquatic Centre is located in the suburb of Hayborough South Australia.
This was a State and Federal government initiative to develop an award winning sport and recreational facility for the local communities of The City of Victor Harbour and Alexandria councils.
The brief was award winning in itself, by requesting a modern looking sporting facility but one that seamlessly blended with the surrounding landscape.
Austim were engaged by Hames Sharley Architects, DWP/Suters and The Fleurieu Regional Aquatic Centre Authority to help with choosing the right material that would stand up to the harsh regional climate and to also showcase the main entry façade of the building.
Vulcan pre-aged look graphite cladding was the preferred choice for the exterior façade, helping to soften the large scale size of the project whilst helping it to fit in with the regional location and addressing performance concerns.
Kennett Construction in association with Austim are very proud to be a part of this very exciting project for South Australia, that is sure to provide enjoyment for the patrons for many years to come.
