The City of Rockingham provided a project brief which included the use of sustainable timber, which would perform in the harsh coastal environment and endure the daily wear of pedestrian foot traffic.
With this in mind, landscape architect firm Place Laboratory engaged Austim to help meet the project brief whilst considering any ongoing maintenance costs to the client.
Recycled spotted gum with a hand brushed finish was the choice of product, not only to meet the design intent but to also meet the slip rating safety requirements along with a minimal maintenance schedule.
Left to naturally age with CUTEK® oil applied, the arbours, seating and decking have softened the harder appearance of the surrounding surfaces, to bring warmth to the coastal location.
With great collaboration between all parties involved, this outdoor coastal space has been successfully created for people to enjoy for years to come. Once again, Austim is proud to be involved with such a great project and to help facilitate the use of timber in our pristine W.A. coastal environments.
