The architects Gresley Abas explained that the “design concept was for the building to maintain a strong connection with the coastal landscape and climate, both through its form and, and its use of materials.” The clubhouse sits comfortably within the sculptured green links course surrounded by coastal scrub land. “The black – timber clad exterior of the building presents as a protective shell to the west, opening up to the north and east to address views and the course.”
Externally, the Vulcan Hector Cladding with Charred Black water based coating by Intergrain is designed to maintain its colour and protect the timber long term. Vulcan timber is FSC® certified, produced from sustainably managed NewZealand plantation timber. Being thermally modified it has exceptional stability, durability and beauty.
