Karri Timber Perth WA
Karri Timber is native to Western Australia’s Southwest and is highly regarded for its strength and distinctive colouring.
Karri timber has a rich colour ranging from pale pink to reddish brown. It is lighter in colour than Jarrah (another timber native to WA’s Southwest). The milled Karri wood rarely has knots which allows it to be cut into longer lengths.
The strength of Karri timber makes it perfect for structural and heavy engineering projects like framing, joists, sleepers and roofing.
Spotted Gum – Can have a similar colour to Karri, though Spotted Gum contains more knots than Karri wood.
Jarrah – while Jarrah is commonly darker in colour, it has similar strength and durability.
Karri timber has a coarse texture with a grain that can be straight or interlocked.
Karri can be a difficult timber to work with as it is usually supplied unseasoned. While its strength and heaviness are great assets to the longevity of your project, it can be a hindrance during the manufacturing process. When using nails, you may be required to pre-drill the holes.

Karri Timber is unique to Western Australia’s southwest and is well known for its strength. The consistency in colour and lack of large knots means that Karri is often available in large section sizes and long lengths. Karri has a range of applications but is predominantly used in structural applications unseasoned.
